10 Base 5
10 Base 5
The 10 Base 5 Ethernet topology uses thick coaxial cables or thicknet to connect computers. The name refers to the fact that this topology can carry signals five times 100 meters that is 500 meters. Thus a thicknet segment can be 500 meters long for a total network length of 2500 meters.

The thicknet cabling components include:]

1: ?Transceivers
2:Tranceiver cable . This connects the transceiver to the network adapter card.
3: AUI Connector: This is the connector on the transceiver .
This topology also follows the 5-4-3 rule that is the network may have 5 segments joined by 4 repeaters and only 3 segments may be populated.
