10 Base FL
10 Base FL

The 10 Base FL is a specification for running Ethernet over fiber optic cables.

The main reason for employing fiber optic cable in Ethernet networks is that the maximum cable segment length in this type of topology is 2000 m.
The 100 Mbps Ethernet standards enable the handling if high bandwidth applications such as Computer Aided Design and the Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM).
