10 Base T
10 Base T
The 10 Base T ( 10 Mbps) baseband over twisted pair cable Ethernet topology uses UTP cable to connect computers. Usually category 3.4 or 5 UTP (twisted pair) cable is used to actuate the network. Most 10 Base T networks are configured in a star pattern but its logical topology is that of a bus. The hub of this network acts as a multi port repeater. Each computer is connected to the end point of a cable that is connected to the hub. This can be done with the help of 2 pairs of wires that transmit and receive signals. The connection to the hub and the LAN card is made by using RJ-45 connectors. The maximum length of a cable segment in a 10 Base T network. The minimum cable length between computers is 8 ft. The maximum number of nodes that can exist on this network is 1024.
