ALU

Arithmetic Logical Unit (ALU)

The ''arithmetic logical unit'' is the component in a central processing unit which handles certain mathematical operations. These operations typically include integer addition, subtraction, multiplication and logical operators such as And, Or, Xor and Not.

The ALU is typically a partner component of the Floating Point Unit (FPU), which handles floating-point operations and integer division.
