BeginnersGuideToMSDOS
MS-DOS, short for Microsoft Disk Operating System, is a command line user interface
DOS was first developed by Seattle Computer Systems, the original name was QDOS (Quick and Dirty Operating System). But QDOS was later bought by Bill Gates for re-sale to IBM who used it in their PC computers. MS-DOS soon became very popular and it made Microsoft what it is today. As time went on MS-DOS grew to include more features from other operating systems. MS-DOS 2.0 introduced many features from the UNIX system.
After the release of Apple Macintosh in 1984, people became interested in a graphical user interface. Many programs got a graphical interface, such as Microsoft Word for DOS, and from there the leap wasn't long to Windows.
