CAV
Constant Angular Velocity (CAV)
Rotation at a steady speed in terms of the amount of angle covered per second. For example, the old style vinyl disk gramaphone records revolved with a constant angular velocity equivalent to 33.5 revolutions per minute. Some modern laser disc players make use of CAV because it makes effects such as picture freeze easier to obtain.
