=== Editing and Creating New Pages ===

Creating new pages for CodePedia is something that will help contribute to the entire Programmers Heaven community and help keep everything accurate and current. Here, I will attempt to explain the basics of using the editing control panel.

=== Editing Existing Pages ===

First let's talk about editing pre-existing pages. All pages can be edited, with the exception of those restricted for security purposes(the main page, special pages, etc.). To edit a page look at the top of the browser for a small link list. Click the "Edit this page" link. You will now see a text field. You can edit content of this page here, or if it is blank, create the content. Below the text field and to the right is a formatting reference, editting help, FAQ, and Pagename search tool. Editing Help, Formatting Reference, and FAQ are self explanatory. The Pagename search tool allows you to find pages that you can link to, and what their official names are. When you're done, click Save Changes and you've updated!

=== Creating New Pages ===

To create a new page use a standard link to a pagename that doesn't exist, for instance,  ?the page that doesnt exist It will create a link to it with the text you entered after the bar, and will create the page thisdoesnotexist, which can then be edited like any other page.

For example, if you want to create a new link, labelled, "C Beginners Tutorial" you need to do the following:

  • [ [ C-Beginners-Tutorial | C Beginners Tutorial ] ]

On the left side of the bar, you need to add the new entry without whitespaces or blanks between the words. On the right side of the bar you can write the text as you whish. Also note that the [[]] braces have to be written without whitespaces or blanks too. I have added the blanks only for editorial purposes.

Once you have created a new link this way, the new link will appear like this:

To edit this new link, click on the ? in front of the link. If you have edited the new link for the first time, this question mark will disappear and you will see the new link only.

=== Editting Pages Without Justification ===

Defacing Codepedia pages simply for the 'fun' of reducing instead of adding to the total knowledge of the whole is inacceptable and not tolerated. If you don't have anything to add, and think this entire thing is foolish then please keep these thoughts to yourself and do not hurt the work of others.
