The concept, and software, behind a Wiki was originally designed by Ward Cunningham. While the code is really quite simple, the uses for a Wiki can become very extensive. The uses range from your own personal scratchpad to organizing a huge project by a company spread out over the world.
A Wiki has very simple syntax that allows anyone to be able to create, edit and upload web pages so no one has to wait for a site administrator to do so. This syntax lets you create links to other pages, format your text with different font styles and even show images!
Since CodePedia is Wiki-based, this means that you can upload information to others without having to learn a lot of complex tags. This doesn't mean that you have no control over how your text looks, it only means that you just have to learn how much you need to know and no more. In fact, this site has a very wide-ranging and powerful set of tags that should cover most any formatting you might need.
Even better, since anyone can edit content, you don't have to worry as much about grammar or style. If it doesn't look right, someone will fix it for you! If you find something that is wrong, click "edit this page" and fix it. No need to email someone and hope they will do it!
CodePedia has a wide range of information for just about every field involving computers. From biographies to code, events to formats, you're almost gauranteed to find something of interest. If you know of something of interest, you can put it here for others to look at.
Don't know where to go from here? Here's a few suggestions:
