EEPROM
Electricallly Erasable Programmable ROM. This can be programmed and reprogrammed while it is in circuit. The ROM of most microcontrollers is of this type. Although this type can be used for temporary storage as RAM writing new data into the address locations of this kind of memory is much slower comparatively. This kind along with the FLASH variety are used for the development stage when frequent trials have to be conducted on the program logic and hardware etc. One the prototype along with the successful code is ready it is ready for production and at that time the cheaper of the memory i.e. a OTP or a PROM is used.
