EPROM
EPROM

Erasable programmable ROM. This kind of memory consists of an array of MOSFET’s one for each bit. During programming , a charge is pulsed on to the gates of those MOSFET’s that are to be set up to ‘1’. This principle is similar to the DRAM, but for the charge that remains for a longer time usually for several years! EPROM’s are basically UV i.e. ultraviolet light erasable they have a quartz window through which the chip can be xposed to UV light if the content has to be erased.
