FoxPro evolved a windowed interface on the DOS platform. Eventually FoxPro was also ported to classic MacOS:

In 1992 Microsoft bought the company, Fox Software, and pursued a port to MS Windows:
MS later developed a Visual version of FoxPro called Visual FoxPro. This product was object-oriented. Most importantly it allowed for direct subclassing of classes. Some people believe this version eventually loss out to MS Access for support and marketing from Microsoft. In fact Visual FoxPro is still thriving. It's up to version 9 now. Rumour has it that FoxPro's performance technology was ported into Access and SQL Server.

What is FoxPro?
FoxPro is the evolution of FoxBase. FoxBase is a database orginally made to operate on DOS OS systems. It was initially a clone of dBASE. It was so much faster than dBase that it gained a lot of fans. It was created in 1988 in Toledo.
