GWBasic
'''GWBASIC'''

A version of BASIC written years ago by Bill Gates for the crude Operating System that he made at that time (primitive DOS). It is a very high level language. It is case insensitive and is hated by almost all programmers, but it is a good place to start for those who are new to programming.

GW-BASIC was a language which used line numbers. A simple program would be:

10 cls
20 a = 0
30 a = a + 1
40 print a
50 goto 30

This program also shows the notorious goto statement, where a while statement would also have fitted.

In GW-BASIC's successor, Q-BASIC (or QuickBasic) you could abandon the use of line numbers (but you could also keep using them) and use labels instead.
