JAD
What Is A JAD?
JAD stands for Java Application Descriptor file that tells the mobile device J2ME Virtual Machine to install the midlet JAR , application icon, and etc to on the device. The midlet attributes you can set in the JAD can be seen here:

MIDP1.0 JAD Attributes

MIDP2.0 JAD Attributes

Isn't this just a manifest file? No, there is an actual manifest file that is found in a JAR that lists the contents of the JAR.
