What is JavaPhone

JavaPhone was one of SUN's first efforts in bringing java to mobile deivces. JavaPHone PAI allowed the devleoper to access the device addessbook, calendar, and etc. While not usefull in doing full blown mobile applications, it netherless generated enough interest for SUN to work with mobile device vendors to bring about J2ME.

Current functionality of JavaPhone API is now found in the Personal Basis Profile that is combined with CDC Profile in high end devices using J2ME.
