Nintendo
Pretty much everyone knows about Nintendo, one of the world's biggest video game companies. They're based in Kyoto, Japan, and their company history is on their site at http://www.nintendo.com/corp/history.html.
Nintendo produced the NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, all console-based games (proprietary hardware and software), and the Game Boy line of handheld games. They are also quite well known for producing a variety of games around Mario, who happens to be a plumber.
Meaning
What does Nintendo mean? I never really thought about it too much, but there's a mention of the meaning on RPGamer:
