How does QBasic differ from From BasicA?
Back to QBasic FAQ Main Page.
MS-DOS BasicA (Microsoft Advanced Basic), supported many of the features that QBasic does, yet others have been dropped (namely cassette drive support). BasicA programs also could be renamed and accompanied by a run-time interpreter for use as stand-alone programs. QBasic can run old BasicA files, as long as line continuance characters are removed, (the hyphen), and provided they are edited for unsupported commands and are syntactically correct, and of course, in ASCII text file format.
BasicA command structure and syntax was mostly comparable. QB changed the syntax on several commands, (Some support two syntax structures.) BA required line numbers; QB does not.
