Why QBasic?

Of course the appropriate response here would be... Why not? It's FREE1, easy to use, and compact. Beginning programmers now have an easy medium in which to "stretch their legs". QBasic will allow the programmer to develop code that has modular structure, in a much friendlier environment. QBasic is much more powerful than other "beginner" languages that previously were free with an operating system.
