Start Menu
(The Windows) Start Menu

With the release of Windows 95, Microsoft invented a bar at the bottom (by default) of the sceen to open, and manage programs. They decided to call a portion of this bar, specifically the part that says "Start" the Start menu. The Start menu lets you view, execute, etc. documents, applications, everything of that sort.
