bitmap
Although some compression is supported in the bmp specs, a bmp is typically a one-to-one representation of the colors of the pixels in the image. This is quite unlike a jpg, gif or other compressed images. In those cases, lossy compression is used to reduce the file size which results in the decoder essentially having to guess what some of the colors are.
