public

public domain

Something is said to be in the "public domain" if noone has a copyright on it.

Public domain is anything that is openly available to ''anyone'', and not subject to copyright protection. Public domain is often equated with a software distribution/licencing model, but it actually can and does reffer to any work of intelectual property.
