shell
A shell is a program that acts as an interface between a [] and the operating system kernel of a computer. Command line shells allow the user to issue commands at a prompt by typing in commands with the keyboard. Graphical shells (such as Microsoft Windows) give users a graphical user interface (GUI) to give commands to the operating system by using a mouse or other input device to manipulate icons, menus, windows, and other graphical elements.Popular shells
