Now it has become essential that I must include a distinction between the new and old versions of the compiler. Hence I've added the comparision section. If anyone has an idea to contribute you are most welcome. However, I will try to make all those comparisions sound neutral to my level best.

Sounds great Deostroll! Still, main is of return type int! You don't want the people reading this getting into the wrong practice (note: there are, tragically, a lot of books (!) doing this wrong. Still the Official C++ Standard is very clear about this) ?
